Living in the present moment is one of the essential features of Mindfulness.

We already talked about the present as the only moment we can live, as the only thing we have (the past is gone and the present is not yet here).
This of course doesn’t mean that you don’t have to plan your life, or that it’s ok to get away from responsibilities: it just means giving the due importance to the things you do, moment by moment, giving them a meaning, considering them a step towards happiness.

I always say that to reach a goal we have to take baby steps: if we give a special meaning to every baby step we take, we will be more motivated and we will be happier for each and every achievement; instead of looking at the (far) finish line, we will look at the interim achievements that are equally important to reach the final goal.
